Caring for Your Robotic Pet: Battery, Cleaning & Maintenance

No feeding or vet visits — but a few simple habits keep your robotic pet looking and working its best. Charging, cleaning, storage, and more.

One of the joys of a robotic pet is how little it asks of you. There's no feeding, no grooming, and no vet — but a few simple habits will keep your companion looking and working its best for years. Here's everything you need to know.

Charging and battery care

Most robotic companions charge over USB-C. For best battery life, avoid letting it run completely flat every time, and unplug once fully charged. Keep a spare cable handy so your pet is never out of action — a USB-C charging cable for Percy cats is a worthwhile backup.

Keeping the coat clean

The plush exterior just needs occasional care:

  • Spot-clean with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap; wipe gently with the fur, not against it.
  • Never submerge a robotic pet in water — the electronics inside are not waterproof.
  • Let it air-dry fully before switching it back on.
  • A soft brush keeps longer-haired models looking fluffy.

Storage and everyday handling

Store your companion somewhere dry and out of direct sunlight, which can fade the coat over time. Handle it as you would a real pet — gently, and supporting its weight. If you won't use it for a while, charge it to about half before storing.

Troubleshooting basics

If your pet becomes unresponsive, a full charge fixes most issues. If sounds or motion seem off, power it fully down and back on. For anything else, our FAQ covers the most common questions.
